Why Quantum?
This is always a hot question in all discussions I have.
It’s extra. It’s unnecessary. It’s hard to get. These are many of the reflex answers.
It is too complex to comprehend and too complicated to understand how it fits in with our BAU. That’s what many conclude with.
The reality is different.
Explainable and beneficial Quantum Tech is emerging and only getting better.
Here is a simple mental model to get how it fits in.
DATA: as it’s volume, variability and veracity increases..
MODELS: the models that give us the insight to make intelligent decisions are becoming more complex… and with exponentially larger search spaces, it is becoming harder to get high-quality answers in feasible time…. We are also pushing the boundaries of software-hardware coupling, application-specific customisation and algorithmic tuning…
COMPUTE: The performance of hardware engines fuelling these calculations is also plateauing. With parallelisation and miniaturisation being maximised. If we want to get faster and better, we need to think differently…
